Lawrence Mitchell is a professional antique furniture restorer and has been restoring furniture as well as dealing in antique and decorative arts for over 25 years. With a wealth of experience in restoring, conserving, making & customizing furniture of all styles, periods and from various parts of the globe..

He is second generation in the antiques trade having grown up in the family antiques business in Oxford where he gained a vast amout of practical and theoretical knowledge. This equiped him with a broad range of restoration skills and a deep knowledge of antiques ranging from the timber selection for carcass contruction through to the different finishes used. He aquired further specialist training working within a traditional cabinet making & restoration workshop.

He spent 6 years working in Perth, Australia. Where he initiated a successful restoration business serving the upper end of the antique market and restoring for the trade, for other antique restorers, local governments and embassies and high end yatch refurbishments of the wooden fixtures.

Returning to the UK in 2011 he has quickly established a flourishing antique dealing and restoration business and has been restoring for private clients, collectors and some of the most prominent and particular dealers of the antiques trade along with restoring items for castles, country houses, and for the Said family at Park Farm on The Blenheim Palace Estate.

In 2021 Lawrence and his family emigrated back to New Zealand (Lawrence's country of birth) to be closer to family. Lawrence is working to establish the business here in Auckland to service the Auckland antiques trade, interior designers, collectors, restuarants, cafe's, retail, collections, institutions and private clientele. Along with the antique restoration he is importing, restoring and selling a large curated selection of stock from various periods and styles. All stock although different share the same traits of quality and design, if the items are of good design, form and function then items from different periods and styles do work well together in most interior schemes.
