A superb yet unfinished early 20th century quilt from Polperro in Cornwall. There are other examples of this type of quilt in the little museum in Polperro, they were made by the fishermens wives. The quilt is fragile with areas of wear and damage from handling but is a great item of history and would make a superb wall display item. The back of it is lined with a mesh.
The majority of the quilting shapes are hexagonal with each bit being from a different fabric.
