A lovely late 19th century Liberty's Cairo stool with Mashrabiya turnings, original ebonized finish and original fabric although this is frayed and worn. All of the turnings are in good order except for one section that has had a basic repair in the past as can be seen in the pictures but this does not stand out.The designer of this stool is unknown but it was retailed by Liberty & Co and is also in the book 'Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915, The birth of Modern Interior Design' It is in the sketch by Raffles Davidson for the Art Journal of the Pownall Bedroom in Pownall Hall, Cheshire on page 99. Also similar version on page 96 picture 4.15.
